Employer’s Orientation Programme
In Singapore, an Employer’s Orientation Programme (EOP) is a mandatory workshop for first-time employers of foreign domestic workers (FDWs) or commonly known as domestic helpers. The workshop is conducted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to educate and familiarize employers with their responsibilities and obligations under Singapore’s employment laws.
The EOP covers topics such as the rights and obligations of employers and domestic helpers, employment laws and regulations, safety and insurance requirements, work permit and security bond requirements, and dispute resolution procedures. The workshop aims to equip employers with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage their domestic helpers effectively and ensure a harmonious working relationship.
Employers are required to attend the EOP before applying for a work permit for their foreign domestic workers. Failure to attend the EOP will result in the rejection of the work permit application.
