Am I eligible to work as a Domestic Helper in Singapore?
To be eligible to work as a domestic worker in Singapore, you must meet certain requirements set by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM):
You must be a female aged between 23 and 50 years old.
You must be a citizen of an approved source country: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam.
You must have at least 8 years of formal education
You must be medically FIT and certified by an approved medical clinic in Singapore
If you are a 1st-time domestic worker in Singapore, you are required to attend the SIP, before your work permit can be issued.
It is important to note that the MOM has strict regulations in place to protect the rights and welfare of domestic workers in Singapore. Employers are required to provide their domestic workers with adequate food, housing, medical care, and time off. They are also required to pay their domestic workers within 7 days of the due salary, provide them with a weekly day off, and ensure they have access to a mobile phone and communication devices.
